「美しい人」というタイトルの所以はご覧になった皆さんの心で、見つけ出していただければ嬉しいです。
台北という街と東京、新宿という街、この二つの街で綴られる恋のお話。
国を隔てても、人の持つだれかを想う「想い」というのは変わらない。そんなことを綴りました。
この物語には「火」にまつわる伝統行事が出て来ます。
主題歌にも使われている「蛍火」の歌詞の中にも、この物語のテーマが隠されているかもしれません。

「映像作品を作る」と心に決めた時、鮮やかに浮かび上がったのは暗い真夜中の新宿の裏路地に、煌々と輝きを落とすコインランドリーの鮮やかな明かりと、そこで出会うであろう不似合いな二人の映像でした。
その二人は日常ではなかなか巡り合わないであろう二人。
二人を通して、「美しい人」というタイトルの通り、弱くとも懸命に生きる登場人物の美しさを表現できればと考えた次第です。

When I decided to "make a movie", what came to my mind vividly was the bright lights of the coin laundry that shines brightly in the back alley of Shinjuku in the dark midnight, and the images of the two unsuitable people who meet there. 
The two are hard to meet in everyday life.
Through the two of them, as the title "You are beautiful" suggests, I wanted to express the beauty of the characters who live hard even if they are weak.
